Type Locality and Naming

Includes in Khation Region, Sughd Region, Darvaz district, Dushanbe - west Shirkent-Luchob, Dushanbe - east Shirkent-Luchob.

Synonym: Udan Tau Fm, Udantau horizon, Udan Tau horizon


Lithology and Thickness

In the Kafirnigan area is represented by limestones and dolomites with a thickness of 3-35 m. The Udontau horizon in the Vakhsh area is composed of gray limestones with a thickness of 40-90 m. In the Zaalay and Darvaz districts, it corresponds to brownish-gray and cream limestones with a thickness of 40-80 m.

Lower contact

Overlies the Daralitau Fm limestones.

Underlies the Bulgarin Fm dolomitic limestones.

Fossils

In the Kafirnigan area, remains of bivalves Neithea substriatocostata Orb., Plicatula hirsuta plicata Douv., Liostrea lehmanni Rom.; gastropods Desmieria divaricata Orb., and others. In Vakhsh area, remains of Gryphaea vesicu!aris Lam. In the Zaalay and Darvaz districts, it contains remains of Gryphaea vesicularis Lamı. Praeneothyris subdepressa (Stol.).
